VŠE alumni visited their alma mater on the 50th anniversary of their graduation
In 2024, we introduced a new service — organizing alumni reunions on the grounds of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). The VŠE Alumni Centre offers assistance with the complete preparation of such events. We arrange venues, equipment, and contact with former classmates. The program can also include a guided tour of the university, where participants can revisit familiar places and see how their alma mater has changed over the years.
On May 6, 2025, the Prague University of Economics and Business hosted its first-ever alumni reunion organized by the VŠE Alumni Centre. A group of eleven graduates who completed their studies in 1975 returned to their alma mater fifty years later to reminisce about old times.
All eleven alumni studied at what was then the Faculty of Production Economics, today’s Faculty of Business Administration (FPH). Some majored in Agricultural Economics and Management, others in Transport and Communications Economics and Management, and others in Industrial Economics and Management. These alumni also share something exceptional — their classmate was the former Minister of Finance, Eduard Janota, who was represented at the reunion by his wife. During their careers, many of them held important, often senior positions in companies with billion-crown turnovers, as well as in public administration or the financial sector.
The tour began in the Old Building with visits to the library and bookstore. The alumni also stopped by the Idea Fair coworking space. The group then moved on to the New Building, where they visited Likeš Auditorium, the Wall of Partners, and saw the Umbrella Pizza Bar restaurant and the InfoCentre featuring new school merchandise. The tour naturally included the iconic Vencovský Auditorium, where graduation ceremonies traditionally take place.
The alumni also learned about something new that didn’t exist during their studies — LOKNI water dispensers. There are now five of them across the VŠE campus, and students can fill up to three liters of filtered sparkling or still water for free every day.
The next part of the program took them to the Rajská Building, constructed after their graduation. Naturally, the traditional group photo on the famous staircase — where today’s graduates pose after their ceremonies — couldn’t be missed.
Finally, the alumni headed to the Italská Building, where they saw the newly opened modular classroom Quattro Modulare and visited the student cafeteria, which brought back nostalgic memories. The reunion concluded with lunch in the Academic Club.
According to the alumni, today’s university is modern but still retains the spirit of the academic environment they remember. They firmly believe that current students will be just as successful as they were — and that they will help make the world a better place.
We would like to sincerely thank the alumni for choosing to visit their alma mater on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their graduation. We hope they enjoyed the tour, learned something new, and reminisced together about their student days — right where their personal and professional journeys began.
The next group of alumni interested in visiting VŠE will arrive on June 14, 2025.
