The University of Economics hosted the Golden Graduation Ceremony for the study circle of Rector Emeritus Prof. Durčáková
On 14 May 2026, the Prague University of Economics and Business hosted a Golden Graduation Ceremony, a festive gathering of alumni commemorating 50 years since completing their studies. This exceptional event offered an opportunity not only to return to the academic environment, but above all to reminisce together, meet former classmates, and renew the symbolic bond with their alma mater.
The ceremony took place in the presence of representatives of the Prague University of Economics and Business. The attending alumni and guests were welcomed by Ing. Tereza Jiříková, Head of the Alumni Centre, who opened the festive gathering. She was followed by prof. Ing. Petr Musílek, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, and subsequently by doc. Ing. Petr Dvořák, Ph.D., Rector of the Prague University of Economics and Business. The participation of Rector Emerita prof. Ing. Jaroslava Durčáková, CSc., added a special significance to the event, as she, together with the other alumni, commemorated 50 years since completing her studies at the university.
One of the most important moments of the entire ceremony was the renewal of the alumni pledge. After fifty years, the alumni once again reaffirmed their relationship with the university, its academic community, and the values they took with them from their studies. The ceremonial act then continued with the presentation of certificates, during which the alumni symbolically confirmed their renewed pledge with a handshake and the words “I pledge.”
The entire event took place in a dignified yet very warm atmosphere. After the ceremonial act, the student anthem Gaudeamus Igitur was performed, underlining the academic character of the gathering and the exceptional nature of the moment. This was followed by a group photo of the alumni in academic gowns and another part of the programme, during which participants could recall their student years, among other things, through digitised historical photographs.
The programme also included a tour of the university buildings, giving the alumni the opportunity to revisit familiar places and at the same time see how their alma mater has changed over the past decades.
We would like to thank all the alumni who accepted the invitation and returned to the Prague University of Economics and Business. It was an honour to celebrate this significant anniversary with you and to remind ourselves that the relationship between a university and its alumni does not end with graduation, but continues for many years afterwards.
We look forward to meeting you again.
