Looking Back to the Past and Ahead to the Future: Such Was the Alumni Homecoming 25
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Faculty of Management of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) held its 5th Alumni Homecoming. The traditional gathering—often associated with returning to a place where graduates spent part of their lives studying at the Faculty of Management—welcomed around 150 participants, including alumni, their partners, and families.
Many Faculty of Management alumni have gone on to become top managers in renowned companies and organizations. “Although it may sound like a cliché, we truly value our alumni and strive to maintain contact with them—both professionally and through informal gatherings such as Homecoming. They are not only our best ambassadors but often also our partners, as we collaborate with many of them and can learn from each other,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Assoc. Prof. Mojmír Sabolovič, Ph.D. In addition to opening the event, he also hosted one of its key parts—the session titled ‘Coffee with…’. This year’s participants included members of the Faculty’s leadership, who discussed with alumni various topics such as study quality, future prospects, and other issues related to the Faculty of Management.
This year’s Homecoming also featured a roundtable discussion with alumni on the topic of artificial intelligence and its use within organizations. “It was incredibly interesting to hear the insights our alumni shared during the 90-minute discussion on AI. Many valuable ideas emerged—ones we can incorporate into our teaching or future course design. We also had a chance to test what meetings of the upcoming Alumni Board might look like in practice—a new advisory body composed of alumni who can help guide the Faculty’s development and enhance our students’ readiness and flexibility for future careers,” added Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Kincl, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Research, Science, and Doctoral Studies.
Around 40 Homecoming guests also enjoyed a unique guided tour of Jindřichův Hradec titled “From Pub to Pub”. The tour guides, Vice-Dean for Education Ing. Martin Musil, Ph.D. and Head of the FM Library Mgr. Věra Kubátová, led participants through a series of historic sites around the town.
The formal afternoon program was complemented by a musical performance by student Eva Kubková. For children, a creative corner was prepared under the guidance of members of the Faculty Cultural Student Club. Young visitors also took part in a fun “Follow the Faculty Lizard” treasure hunt, which led them through various parts of the Faculty building while completing playful tasks.
