Reportage from the Alumni Golf Tour
The second edition of the Alumni Golf Tour, organized by the VŠE Alumni Centre, with the support of the VŠE Event Centre, took place on Saturday, June 17th.
Compared to last year, when only alumni with a green card could participate, this year there was also an opportunity for golf beginners to join. A golf academy was prepared for them, where under the guidance of professional trainers, they could try out basic shots at the driving range and learn the basics of chipping and putting. There was also an introduction to the golf rules and various sections of the course. The highlight of the academy was the putting competition.
The tournament, which was only for players with a green card, started at 10 o’clock. The tournament participants were divided into flights in advance to encourage networking, and it was not uncommon to have flights where each player was an alumnus from a different faculty. The golf tournament also included popular side contests such as “nearest to pin” and “longest drive.” Information boards about the history of VŠE were prepared at each hole, so besides enjoying the game, VŠE alumni could learn interesting facts about the history of their alma mater.
After the tournament, the award ceremony followed. Academy participants received certificates, and the winners of the putting competition received prizes. Then the tournament winners were announced. First, prizes were awarded to the winners of the “nearest to pin” and “longest drive” contests, followed by prizes for the top placements in the main categories. Considering the starting list, there was one category for women and two categories for men (with a handicap line of 30). Each player also received a commemorative golf ball from the limited edition “70 YEARS,” symbolizing this year’s anniversary of our alma mater. The Event Centre had these commemorative balls made specifically for this tournament. The tournament results were also taken into account for the players’ handicap changes.
The golf course in Mstětice was perfectly prepared, and the staff of the restaurant and the club were very accommodating. The participants from the ranks of VŠE alumni were not discouraged by the storm that passed through during the event, and for most of the time, they enjoyed the sunny weather, networking, and a pleasant atmosphere.
This year’s edition enjoyed rich participation and a great atmosphere. We thank all the participants for a fantastic golf day. We also thank the organizers, who ensured the smooth running of the event, and our partners, who enable us to organize not only a golf tournament but also many other events.
We believe that you enjoyed the whole event, and we look forward to seeing you at the next edition of this popular golf event. This year, we recommend attending the Alumni Homecoming event as part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of VŠE’s establishment. The festival for VŠE alumni will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Žižkov campus. You can look forward to a professional program, culture, networking with former classmates, and many other interesting activities.
